Scary stories from a lovely place

Goodbye, Dublin

And now it’s over. We’re going home tonight. I’m sad and happy and full of nervous excitement all at once. We’ve had a wonderful time.

Today has been spectacular Dublin weather. Icy cold, blue sky, fluffy clouds, warming sunshine. We’ve relaxed, eaten pie, gone for a leisurely walk, chopped wood, packed and repacked.

And notably, Silas had his hair cut by his Granny. I’ve swayed back and forth in my desire to cut Silas’ hair. On the one hand I really wanted to resist societal pressure, but on the other I was sick of him being called she. Every day. No matter what colour he was wearing. It was quite a team effort to keep him still and distracted, but finally we got there. I think it looks good.

The haircut, and going home, feels like the end of an era, but also the beginning of more good together.
